I am Corina Atanasiu , MP for Vrancea and I proudly represent our county and its values in the Romanian Parliament. I am 50 years old and have over 25 years of experience in the administration of European funds and the implementation of strategic programs with major impact in the social and educational field. I have advanced studies in Educational Sciences, Education in Crisis, Public Administration and Political Sciences, which allows me to understand in depth the needs of the educational system and work to improve it.
In 2021, as Secretary of State in the Ministry of Investments and European Projects, I coordinated and negotiated the allocation of 3.6 billion euros for the Education Chapter of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). This is the most comprehensive plan dedicated to combating early school leaving and modernizing education in Romania, including the creation of nurseries, kindergartens, modern laboratories and schools in rural areas. At the same time, I also coordinated the Operational Program Competitiveness 2014–2020, worth 1.8 billion euros, supporting IT and research projects for top academic institutes and universities.
Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to building projects and programs that develop Romania. I have managed grant schemes and European initiatives worth over 30 million euros, aiming at our country’s integration into the EU, socio-economic development, equal opportunities and supporting vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities. I have also been involved at national and international level in projects regarding the rule of law, democracy, human rights and freedom of expression.
My commitment:
“Romania needs an education that inspires, includes and prepares for a better future. The failure of the educational system is a deep wound in our society, and my mandate is dedicated to rebuilding the Romanian school, transforming it into a force that brings meaning and hope for future generations.”
